Whole-House Water Filters, Compared by Spec
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure
This site compares whole-house water filter systems (point-of-entry filters for every tap and shower) using maker and retailer specs — not hands-on lab tests we haven't run, and not a fake local installer site.
We cover city-water carbon systems, chloramine-focused media, and how well-water needs differ. Softeners and under-sink reverse osmosis (RO) belong in the same home-water stack and will get their own guides later; until then we link them only where they change a buying decision.
How we research: We haven’t tested these systems in a lab. Specs come from the maker’s product page or a major retailer listing. When sources disagree, we show both or mark Not stated. We don’t invent prices, star ratings, or review counts. Confirm the live listing before you buy.

Quick Picks
| Need | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|

| Not sure city vs well | City vs well guide | Sediment/iron/sulfur vs chlorine/chloramine paths (guide) |
How We Pick
- Source water: city (chlorine/chloramine) vs private well (sediment, iron, sulfur, bacteria risk).
- Flow rate (GPM): can it keep up with simultaneous showers and laundry.
- Media type: catalytic carbon for chloramine claims vs standard CTO carbon for chlorine taste/odor.
- Capacity & maintenance: tank media life vs cartridge swap interval.
- Evidence: finished-system certification vs component claims vs maker marketing only.

FAQ
What is a whole-house water filter? A point-of-entry system on the main line so every faucet and shower gets filtered water. It is not the same as a water softener (hardness minerals) or an under-sink RO (drinking water only).
Do you install filters or sell leads on this page? No. Wave 1 is national product guides only. We don’t claim to be a plumber or local installer.
Do you test products hands-on? Not yet. Pages say so clearly. If we add testing later, we’ll mark those products.
Will you cover softeners and RO? Yes — same site, later pillar pages. They solve different problems than a whole-house carbon filter.
